Bio
Todd Bevis comes from a lifelong background in drag racing. Currently, he serves as Manager of Race Car Fabrication Group for Cagnazzi Racing, where he oversees the chassis shop and builds innovative, high-performance drag race cars.
Todd began his professional career in 1980, when he worked with Gary Harwood, owner of Harwood Fiberglass, building ’27 street roadsters for Super Gas sportsmen. In 1983, he received a NHRA “Best Engineering” award, along with a couple of national event wins by driver Ray Martel. In the mid-80’s, his talents took him to San Diego, CA, where he worked with Willie Rells. While there, he worked with such noted drivers as Butch Leal, Ken Dondero, Warren Johnson, David Nickens, and many other owners and drivers.
After a 4 year stint with Rells, Todd moved to Missouri to hone his craft at Jerry Haas Race Cars. Not only did he build and fabricate championship-winning race cars in St. Louis, he traveled with Haas, servicing the clutch on the cars.
In 1992, Todd moved back home to Tyler, Texas, and opened his own race car manufacturing business. Shortly thereafter, he won yet another “Best Engineering” award from NHRA. Over the following ten years, Bevis Built Race Cars, LLC, built Bracket cars, Pro Stock trucks, Pro Stock and Pro Modified cars, for such prestigious clients as David Nickens, Frankie Taylor, Tom Huggins and Dr. Larry Rose to name only a few, who took advantage of his diverse knowledge of the race car industry.
It was in 2002 that Todd teamed with Victor Cagnazzi of Cagnazzi Racing to begin an “in-house” chassis program with Cagnazzi’s newly formed Pro Stock team concept of not only race cars but engines and other technology to be developed under one roof. Here Todd has enjoyed working hand-in-hand with tremendous drivers, such as Steve Johns, Tommy Lee, Erica Enders, Dave Connolly, and Jeg Coughlin, and crew chiefs Tommy Utt, Roy Simmons, and Dave Connolly.
This accumulation of experience has paid off as Todd’s cars won NHRA Pro Stock Championships in 2007 and 2008. In 2012, Erica Enders became not only the first female Pro Stock winner, she also won 4 more times and finished a strong 5th in the NHRA Championship points. In his 30 plus years’ career, Todd has developed friendships with a sizeable group of racers, crew chiefs, and chassis builders with whom he often consults. His ability to solve complex chassis problems and communicate easy-to-understand solutions has evolved into Chassis Dynamics, wherein he will share his vast knowledge with you and others in his Chassis Dynamics “hands on”seminars.
